History of Arvada, Colorado
According to allcitycodes, Arvada, Colorado has a long and interesting history. The area was originally populated by Native American tribes such as the Arapaho, Cheyenne and Ute. They lived in the area for centuries before being displaced by settlers in the mid-1800s. The first settlers arrived in 1859 and established farms, ranches, stores and churches. In 1870, the town of Arvada was officially incorporated with a population of just over 500 people. The town quickly grew to become an important agricultural center for the Denver area with many of its citizens relying on farming as their primary source of income. In addition to farming, Arvada also had several businesses including two flour mills, two sawmills and a brickyard. By 1910, Arvada had grown to more than 2,000 residents and had become an important stop on the Denver & Rio Grande Western Railroad line.
