Thrift Store Chic and Popular Side By Side

The region of thrift stores in town par excellence is the Marais, in 4ème. How is a tourist area, the thrift stores are always crowded and the contest for the best pieces will be more arduous. These days the Dani gave the hint of a less frequented in 11ème, and today I list here, too, out of the Marais. Both are in 18ème, two blocks away from each other. Can be visited in the same way and are two thrift shops of complete opposites, profiles and so complementary.

Hippy Market

It’s a thrift store, or a “vintage friperie”, which has two stores in Montmartre and a in the 1er arrondissement. We recommend that the Metro Chateau Rouge (line 4) because it is varied, relatively new (opened in March this year) and less frequented than the other, which provides a more personalized service. We recommend that you get there with the Pocketful, since a male shirt does not leave for less than 40 euros. But the pieces are so good that it really is hard to believe that they are second-hand. There is a serious quality control that makes the Hippy Market a clothing store better than most. The focus is the vintage, i.e. relatively new parts that have an old air, especially decades of 60 and 70, and the selection clearly is made by a young team that understands enough sets. An unmissable address for anyone who wants to go back to Brazil with a really unique piece.

Guerrisol

A thrift store where the poor audience will more “for accuracy than for giddy dumb face wears off”, as Guimarães Rosa. As well as the Hippy Market, has different addresses for the city. This is on the border of the 9ème with 18ème. Most customers is made up of the low-income population, which is attracted by the variety (the store is immense) and by prices: 80% of the parts cost 5 euros, coming within 20 euros in case of winter clothes or dresses. Unlike the Hippy Market, you can buy almost everything here takes a lot of patience to browse until you find something worthwhile. But there are. The best proof of this is that, side by side to the public without money, you’ll see half a dozen of hipsters and hipsters, which often go back there some rarity to resell later at thrift stores more chic.
