Speaker Buying Guide: Everything An Expert Would Value

One of the electronic devices that more use tend to give in our life, whatever the reason (work, entertainment, utility, etc) are the speakers, which can be combined with a multitude of devices to play a variety of different sounds.

Thanks to the promotion of up to 20% discount on El Corte Inglés you can take advantage and get those speakers you’ve always dreamed of. Do you know what is the difference between each one of them? Because dictfurniture will help you choose the most suitable for you.

Basics of a speaker

As already stated in the special headset, there are characteristics relating to sound important to distinguish one handset from another, and in the case of the speaker, we can reapply them perfectly. Let us remember:

Impedance: this value is measured in ohms and determines the resistance to the passage of electric current through the loudspeaker. This means that a lower impedance, best passage of electric current and higher fidelity with respect to the original audio generated by the unit of sound, the sound will be heard “highest”. For example, a speaker with a good impedance can provide 6 ohms. If the speaker impedance is higher than the emitting sound team, not hear nothing, although it is difficult to happen.

Frequency range: the only human ear is able to hear sound waves having a frequency between the 18 or 20 Hz and the 20,000 Hz (20 kHz). Bass sounds are placed in the Strip that goes from 10 Hz to 256 Hz; medium sounds are among the 256 Hz and 2,000 Hz; and the treble range from 2,000 Hz to 20,000 Hz. When a speaker is able to reach their maximum and minimum frequency response 18 Hz, in the first case, and 20,000 Hz, in the second case, before a great speaker then will be that it is able to emit all types of bass, middle and treble without any problem.

Sensitivity: this figure is measured in decibels (dB) and indicates the intensity of sound maximum which will generate a sound pressure in our ear, i.e., the maximum volume which is capable of reaching our speaker. We take into account that the number of 0 dB is the minimum for the threshold of hearing and 140 dB is the maximum, which determines the threshold of pain. A reasonable limit is 100 dB, which is the usual limit that tend to have all speakers and players, since that figure thereafter could damage our hearing how much more time we expose it to these pressures.

In the case of the speakers, as well as impedance, frequency and sensitivity range, we’ll also talk about power output and number of routes:

Power output: determines the maximum power (RMS) that can endure a speaker before distorted too much the sound that occurs or begins to deteriorate, if a speaker works above that power may be damaged, not to dissipate the heat generated by the electric current flowing through the coil, and this be able to melt the insulation covering the copper wire.

Number of ways: through the use of special filters, a speaker can deliver low frequencies (10 Hz to 256 Hz) sound waves; stockings (256 Hz to 2,000 Hz) and treble (2,000 Hz to 20,000 Hz) to different types of drivers prepared for use in each different frequency range (woofers for the bass, driver of means for the midrange and tweeter for highs). If a speaker uses a specific driver for the three ranges, then will be a three-way speaker, if a speaker uses two drivers for the three ranges (a tweeter for highs and a serious means of mid and bass frequencies driver) will then have a two-way loudspeaker.

El Corte Inglés is a great variety of speakers, ready to be used in all kinds of situations and with different ranges of quality, we will know the most representative of each range:

Speaker systems

Speaker systems have experienced a growing popularity thanks to its use as a home theater systems. Normally a speaker system would have, at a minimum, 3 speakers (a subwoofer for bass and two front speakers), as well as 6 speakers (systems 5.1 with 4 speakers for side and rear, one front and one subwoofer) or 8 speakers (System 7.1 with 6 speakers for side and rear, a front and a subwoofer).

Bookshelf speakers

This type of speakers are greater than those included in a speaker system and are used mainly in high-fidelity sound systems, as stereos. They are usually placed on furniture (hence its name) and are used in stereo configurations (no subwoofer). They handle a wide range of frequencies.

Wall speakers

Wall speakers designed to fit in spacious interiors (classrooms, halls, churches or places of worship, industrial warehouses, etc) and allow the sound better to different points of the stay.

Outdoor speakers

This type of speakers are ideal for it place in points outside of a building such as terraces or facades, above all thanks to its resistance to adverse climatic conditions and weather-proof capability.

Column speakers

They are the best speakers for listening to music, since his height allows them to include drivers of great size that provides them with the ability to easily reach all possible frequency ranges. Tend to rest directly on the floor.
